Hình thức bài thi nói IELTS là bài nói chuyện trực tiếp 1:1 giữa giám khảo và thí sinh. Bài thi gồm 3 phần sẽ tạo cho thí sinh có cơ hội để thể hiện khả năng sử dụng ngôn ngữ của bản thân. Toàn bộ bài thi nói IELTS của thí sinh sẽ được ghi âm. Giám khảo sẽ đánh giá và cho điểm thông qua cách thể hiện của thí sinh trong suốt bài thi nói.

Trước khi bước vào những câu hỏi trong đề thi IELTS speaking skills, mình xin được chia sẻ thông tin về cách chấm điểm kĩ năng nói nhé.
1. Fluency:
Đạt điểm cao cho tiêu chí Fluency, hãy tham khảo một số thông tin sau:
- Dùng Fluency Markers: Một số fluency markers thông dụng: Actually/ In fact/ To be honest/ To tell the truth/ I must admit that…; Well, I guess/ Well I suppose…; And so on/ That sort of thing… ; I’m afraid that …; What I mean (by this) is…/ I mean,…; It’s hard to say…; It all depends (on the situation); Every case is different…; I suppose…; Obviously I’m no expert, but…; I’m not sure there’s an easy answer (to that); Oh yes, absolutely. That’s undeniable.
- Dùng Logical Links để làm nổi bật sự khác biệt: In the short term … but in the long term … In the case of … but in the case of …. On the one hand … but on the other hand .... Nowadays,… Meanwhile in the old time…
Trong ví dụ trên mọi người có thể chú ý tới một số điểm sau:
Candidate 1: aspects of life
Candidate 2: Oh obviously!; in the past … But nowadays
Candidate 3: Oh yes, absolutely! That’s undeniable. I suppose there are so many positive changes in the children lives. And the most significant one is children nowadays are more widely and better fed and clothes, than in the past. Meanwhile, the state of kids starving was quite prevalent,in the old time. And another progress is the increase of accessibility of the children to education. Ahthese days, children really have good schooling.
Tình huống 1: The candidate does not know what the examiner is talking about.
-> Cách giải quyết:
Could you say that again, please?
Sorry, what was that?
I’m afraid I didn’t catch that.

Tình huống 2: The candidate fully hears what the examiner said but can not completely comprehend the full meaning due to some new words.
-> Cách giải quyết:
I’m afraid I don’t understand.
I’m not sure what you mean.
Sorry, what does … mean?
Could you explain what … mean?
Tình huống 3: The candidate fully hears what the examiner said but can not completely comprehend the full meaning due to some new words. The candidate is confident in his guess and wants to check with the examiner.
-> Cách giải quyết:
By……..do you mean…..?
When you say………..do you mean……..?
Are you asking whether/ if………?
If I understand you correctly you’re asking whether/ if……….?

Cấu trúc đề thi nói
Phần 1: Giới thiệu tổng quát (4-5 phút)
Giám khảo sẽ hỏi một số câu hỏi liên quan đến các đề tài quen thuộc/phổ biến Các câu hỏi phổ biến Good morning/afternoon. My name is……… Could you tell me your full name please? Thank you. And what shall I call you? Can you tell me where you are from? Can I see your registration please? Thank you. Now in this part I’d like to ask some questions about yourself. Let’s talk about what you do. Do you work or are you a student? What’s your subject? Is this subject popular in your school or college? Do you spend time with other students on your course? Will you stay friends with them in the future? What do you do? How did you get this job? What do you have to do at work? Do you plan to keep this job in the future? Let’s talk about your free time. What do you do to relax? How often do you do this activity? What do people in your country / culture do to relax? Now let’s talk about the countryside. How often do you go to the countryside? What do you like to do there? What do other people like to do? Photographs Let’s move onto the subject of photographs How often do you take photographs? Why? / Why not? Why do people take photographs? Do you prefer photographs or people or places? Why? Let’s talk about music How often do you listen to music at home? Why/ Why not? What kind of music do you listen to? Why? What kind of musical instrument would you like to play? Why / Why not? Let’s talk about sports What is the most popular sport in your country? Do you watch this sport? Why/ Why not? Why is this sport popular? Why/ Why not? Thí sinh sẽ nhận một đề tài ngẫu nhiên từ giám khảo. Thí sinh sẽ có 1 phút để chuẩn bị và trình bày trong vòng 1 – 2 phút. Ví dụ: You should say: What the occasion was Where you at the meal What you ate And say why you enjoyed it so much Giám khảo sẽ thảo luận/đặc câu hỏi chi tiết hơn về những gì thí sinh đã trình bày ở phần 2.Ví dụ: What are the advantages of eating a balanced diet? What do you think a healthy diet consists of? Which do people in your country prefer: traditional food or fast food? Do you think children should be taught about healthy food? At what age do you think children should be taught to cook? Do you think children’s eating habits are different now compared to 20 years ago? What can be done to prevent poor people in the world going hungry? Should rich countries help poor countries with just more than food?
